Many people have bought one of these fireplaces for their homes over the last twenty plus years, so it makes sense to learn from the experience of others. 1. Gel Flame Fireplaces do not give off much heat.

The plain and simple of it is the fact that the do not put off much heat. I have done mountains of research on them, and many websites claim that they are capable of putting off enough heat to warm a room during the winter. This could not be farther from the truth. If you lived in the desert southwest you might be able to take the chill out of a room on a cool winter morning. I guess I can admit to that. The best use for these appliances is for background lighting and to generally sit there and look good. They are best used in those applications.
