The normal everyday swinging closet doors has advantages and disadvantages. The good thing about a hinged closet door is that it gives you a good solid surface for you to add closet decorations or a full-length mirror on the door to enhance your room.
I do like a Victorian design, but I like to brighten things up a bit in these kinds of homes. I want to maintain the architectural integrity, but I also want for it to feel livable and less weighty, if you know what I mean.
Even sliding closet doors come with some disadvantages. When you slide open the closet doors, there will always be one side that remains closed. If your closet has dual sliding doors, then you can only access one area of your closet at a time.
Bi-Fold. Same as also with the hinged variety, the bi-fold closet doors answers the problem of their hinged counterpart. They can be folded when opened so that it won’t take as much space necessary in your room.

Anyone looking to add to their closet design by adding different types of storage devices will find there are lots of options. From very basic storage solutions to custom-designed creations, there are a lot of ways to go. Choosing what to use will depend a lot on the closet in question, the space and what needs to go into the closet.
If a professional design isn’t desired, and building something at home won’t work either, there are still lots of things to consider for closet design. Some of the best ideas can be broken down by type of closet. They include:
Linen closets – To maximize the space for this type of closet design, or at least provide better, neater storage, there are some options. Compartmentalized shelves can make it much easier to keep wash clothes, pillow cases and other small items sorted. Large rubber tubs or other similar devices can work great at the bottom of a closet for holding blankets and other big items. Regular shelving tends to work best for towels and sheets.
Eliminate everything that does not belong to the pantry. The items that do not fit in your pantry should be removed ruthlessly and placed either to the right closet or to the trash bin.

The sliding closet door is one option available when thinking about installing or purchasing closets for a room. If you only have very limited space for a closet, then the sliding closet door will make sure that you can have access to the inside of your closet without having to worry about banging the door on the walls or the foot of your bed.
If you are worried about sliding the doors too fast and making lots of noise, then worry not because there are sliding closet doors that will not slam when reaching the end of their travel. These doors come with silent rails and a damper system to slow the doors down at full travel.
The great thing about using sliding doors on a closet is that you will still have access to everything inside but you just simply slide the closet door to one side in order to gain access. No longer will you need to worry that you only can open the door to your closet a few inches before it hits something or that you have to squeeze your way into it through the narrowest of openings just so you can search right at the back to find what you are looking for. This particular type of closet door is not only really simple to install and use but is also very effective in saving you space that you simply do not have to spare.

Do you dread going to your closet? Is it full of clothing, shoes, and accessories? Do you have to dodge falling objects, and then search endlessly for something you know is in there?
Professional closet designers report all sorts of lavish requests for closet designs, including espresso machines, pedicure chairs, refrigerators, mini bars and more. Couches, chairs, granite counter tops and motorized shoe racks aren’t at all uncommon. You can use some of these ideas to turn your boring closet into a thing of beauty and convenience, even if you don’t have a lot of room or money to work with.
The first order of business is to take everything out of your closet! I know this can seem overwhelming at first but it is necessary. Go through each item and place it in a pile depending on how you want things to be organized. Some people choose to organize their closet by colors of the clothing; others do it by the style of the clothing with piles for blouses, skirts, sweaters, etc. Pick a system that is going to work well for you. Once you have all of your piles in place you can start allocating closet space to meet those needs.

Fortunately, I had great parents who took this all in stride and assured me that I would grow up “protected”. Laughter. As years passed, and I became a parent, I opted out of traditional doors for my home and used Sliding closet doors in their stead.
